Listen as Sherry and Marshall discuss the traveling preachers who spread the gospel across the frontier.

This show's lagniappe:

Frontier Biscuits

3 cups flour

4 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon sugar

6 tablespoons butter, cold

1 - 1 1/4 cups milk

Combine dry ingredients in a bowl and stir to mix. Cut the butter into the flour until is becomes pea-sized. Stir in the milk just enough to combine, but don’t overmix. If the dough seems too dry add one tablespoon of flour at a time. Turn out onto a flour surface and roll to 1-inch thickness. Cut into biscuit shapes and place on a baking sheet. Bake at 425 for about 15-20 minutes or until golden.

Recipe adapted from Kansas’s Republic County Pilot, July 16, 1885
